Some Cheese For Your Whine?

I know I am being whiny. That happens when I am exhausted. I feel that Cakey is holding us back, though. Most of us, upon leaving the previous semester's clinical rotation, had 4 pts. Now we are back down to 2, and our requests to take another pt have been denied. We are not checked off for IV fluids/meds yet, and most of us have been hanging them for the past 2 semesters. Some students on our group have not even been checked off for PO meds. Yeah, I have been told by real nurses that I should revel in being a student, hiding behind my resource nurse and taking it easy. But I don't want to go backwards. I would like to be able to perform at the level of skill of which I am accustomed. I think most of us feel that way.
And about Cakey: she asserts her dominance in a heavy-handed way. One student had an encounter with her reminiscent of Private Pyle's with his drill sergeant in "Full Metal Jacket." Remember the part about him smiling too much? Yeah.
OK, have to get ready for clinical now.
